New York Comic Con 2014: George Clooney Crashes The Tomorrowland Panel

According to George Clooney himself, the actor is supposed to be on his honeymoon with his new wife, Amal Alamuddin. Instead, Clooney put in a surprise appearance during the Tomorrowland panel on the first day of New York Comic Con.

Via Comic Book Resources’ Spinoff blog, Clooney shocked his Tomorrowland co-stars Britt Robertson, Raffey Cassidy and Hugh Laurie by joining the panel before joking with the crowd that “I think since my Batman, I was disinvited from Comic Con… I see the comments section on all you guys! I met Adam West back there and said, ‘Hey, I’m really sorry! Sorry about the nipples on the suit.’”

Tomorrowland screenwriter Damon Lindelof and director Brad Bird were also on hand to discuss the film. The film’s script was co-written by Bird and Lindelof from a story they conceived with entertainment reporter Jeff Jensen. While most of the Tomorrowland plot details remain shrouded in secrecy, it has previously been revealed that Clooney will play a former boy genius named Frank who shares a connection with a scientifically inclined young girl named Casey (Robertson) as they attempt to uncover the secrets of a place beyond time and space called Tomorrowland.

Clooney told the crowd that “[Tomorrowland] was fun for all of us to play in this giant toy box with [Brad Bird], and helping him realize what he wants.”

After the panel, Disney released the first teaser trailer for Tomorrowland, which you can watch below.

Tomorrowland will debut in theaters on May 22, 2015.
