Sony Confirms Which Steering Wheel Peripherals Will Work with Driveclub

You may not have access to a fully rotating and vibrating gyro-car to enjoy your racing games, but that doesn’t mean you can’t add to the realism with a steering wheel and gas pedal or two. In a post to the PlayStation Blog, Sony confirmed today that upcoming racer Driveclub will be compatible with two of the latest steering peripherals released by Thrustmaster: the new T80 and T300RS.

Sony says that these two wheels have been “perfectly tuned” for Driveclub, so if you’re in the market for a wheel then there’s little reason not to go after one of Thrustmaster’s options. Sony asks the question, “Who doesn’t love to lock their thumbs into a good racing wheel and get lost in the moment, believing that they’re pro drivers?!” It’s a question for which I have no answer. Hashtag philosophy.

The post claims that pro drivers have actually tested the wheels, including Sebastian Loeb “acing almost every corner of an epic downhill” while trying them out. The idea of Driveclub‘s realism being accurate enough for pro drivers to feel immediately at home is admittedly impressive, especially when said driver is shattering the record lap times of the developers themselves “on this first go.”

Driveclub is slated for release on PS4 October 8th, and though more wheels may be announced as compatible down the road, for now it’s just these. If you have your heart set on one, Thrustmaster is probably your best bet. Otherwise, you might want to look into those PlayStation Plus perks I’ve been hearing so much about.
