Nick Tarabay Is Captain Boomerang on ‘Arrow’ Season 3

The casting directors of “Arrow” appear to have a well documented love affair with the “Spartacus” TV series. Manu Bennett was a recurring guest star and a series regular as Slade Wilson for the first two seasons of “Arrow,” while Cynthia Addai-Robinson and Katrina Law seem likely to recur for the foreseeable future as Amanda Waller and Nyssa Raatko al Ghul, respectively.

Even “Arrow’ star Stephen Amell has a connection to “Spartacus,” as he was one of the three finalists to replace the late Andy Whitfield.

Now, “Arrow” has gone back to the “Spartacus” cast yet again. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Nick Tarabay will appear in multiple episodes of “Arrow” Season 3 as Digger Harkness aka Captain Boomerang.

Captain Boomerang was created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino as a villain for The Flash who favored boomerangs as his weapon of choice. However, Captain Boomerang is also well known among comic book fans for his stint in the Suicide Squad.

For “Arrow,” Captain Boomerang has been re-envisioned as “a former A.R.G.U.S operative, highly skilled in martial arts and espionage, with a deadly thirst for vengeance against his former employers.” Tarabay wil first appear in the seventh episode of the season and he will be present in the eighth episode as well, which will crossover with “The Flash.”

In addition to his two season (and a prequel) stint in “Spartacus,” Tarabay is best known for his guest roles in “Burn Notice” and “The Sopranos” in addition to his starring turn in the “Crash” TV series. Tarabay also appeared as a Klingon in Star Trek Into Darkness.

“Arrow” will return to The CW on Wednesday, October 8.
