In 1990, Amanda Pays co-starred in “The Flash” as Dr. Tina McGee, a scientist who served as a partner to Barry Allen (John Wesley Shipp) and a potential love interest as well. This fall, Tina McGee will return to “The Flash” for the new series on The CW. And Pays will once again portray that character.
Variety broke the story about Pays return to “The Flash” franchise. Although her character is still a scientist on “The Flash,” the new incarnation of Tina McGee will work at a rival firm instead of with S.T.A.R. Labs. Created in 1987 by Mike Baron and Jackson Guice, Tina McGee was originally a love interest for Barry Allen’s successor as The Flash, Wally West. But that was changed for the TV series.
“When we decided to bring Tina onto our version of ‘The Flash,’ who better to get than the amazing actress who originated the part?” said Andrew Kreisberg, one of the executive producers of “The Flash.” “Like with John Wesley Shipp, we are so proud and excited to have another actor from the original series join us on our new adventures for Barry Allen.”
TV’s original Flash, Shipp (pictured above with Pays) already has a recurring role on The CW’s “The Flash” as Barry Allen’s wrongfully imprisoned father, Henry.
Outside of her single season on “The Flash,” Pays is best known for her roles in Leviathan and Max Headroom. She has also appeared in “The X-Files,” “Martial Law,” “Nip/Tuck” and “Psych.”
“The Flash” will premiere on The CW on Tuesday, October 7.
