GameStop Is Selling $99 2DS’s, Go Buy One so You Can Play Smash

The entry cost to play Super Smash Bros. for 3DS this Fall keeps getting lower and lower. From scratch, even if you’ve never touched a video game in your life (which is admittedly unlikely if you’re reading this), you can grab a  2DS for $99 from GameStop and call it a day. Well, you’ll need the game too. So $140 all said and done. Still, not too terrible.

There are a handful of colors available, and if you’r feeling left out by the system’s lack of stereoscopic 3D, the refurbished section of Nintendo’s online store has some pretty decent selection as well. There’s always the likely-superior Wii U version, but if you’re looking at $99 2DS’s, odds are you’re on a budget. Or maybe you just want to play both versions. That I can relate to.

In other Super Smash Bros. news, some leaked characters were confirmed today by Twitch user hamaya via a stream that has since be reported and removed. Among them are Dark Pit, Duck Hunt Dog (not joking), Ganondorf, Mr. Game and Watch, Ness, and Falco. It’s nice to learn that those last few are returning, while the first two are pretty perplexing. I assumed Dark Pit would merely be a skin for Pit. As for Duck Hunt Dog… yeah, feeling kind of stumped by that one.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is out October 3rd in the US, so whatever you need to do to be ready by then, I suggest attending to it immediately. Personally I still think there are hidden characters to uncover, but at this point it’s looking like players will have to discover remaining fighters for themselves. Playable Doc Louis, I’m calling it.
