Watch The 3D Preview Trailer For Gotham, Premieres Tonight on FOX

This fall, Fox enters the world of Batman at the very beginning of his story in Gotham.

When Gotham begins, Thomas and Martha Wayne are brutally murdered in front of their son, Bruce (David Mazouz). Suddenly, Detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) of the Gotham City Police Department finds himself handling the biggest case of his career alongside his new partner, Detective Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue).

James Gordon doesn’t know if he can trust Bullock… and for good reason. Everyone in Gotham City has their secrets. Even his fiancée, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) is hiding something that James Gordon can never know. Much to James Gordon’s dismay, the traditional roles of good and evil don’t apply to Gotham.

While James Gordon is the focal point of Gotham, he isn’t alone. The rise of Batman may be years away, but most of his enemies are already present in Gotham. The future Riddler, Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) is working for the police while Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) is making a name for himself on the other side of the law. The young Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) hovers above the fray like a cat in the shadows and even Ivy Pepper (Clare Foley) factors into the story years before her transformation into Poison Ivy. Jada Pinkett Smith is playing Fish Mooney, a new crime lord who was created for this series.

And somewhere out in Gotham is the man who laughs. The man who will become Batman’s ultimate villain…

Gotham will follow James Gordon and Bruce Wayne as they develop into the heroes of the Batman franchise. Similarly, the origin stories of Batman’s villains will unfold as the events of Gotham play out. In the 75 year history of Batman, Gotham is the first TV show to fully explore the mythology of Batman before Bruce Wayne becomes The Dark Knight. Until then, the safety of Gotham City rests in the hands of Gordon and the Gotham City Police Department.

Ahead of the broadcast premiere of Gotham tonight at 8/7c, FOX has released a brand new Gotham preview trailer to set the stage for the series.
