Haley Atwell Will Guest Star In The Season Premiere of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’

At the end of the Marvel One Shot film, Agent 47, Peggy Carter (Haley Atwell) was brought in as one of the founding members of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And before Atwell goes on to star in her own Marvel TV series, she’ll be making an appearance on the one that’s already on the air.

Marvel has released the guest cast for the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2 premiere, and the big surprise is that Atwell will be reprising her role as Peggy Carter in the episode. Presumably Peggy Carter will appear in a flashback sequence, but that’s just speculation. Atwell has previously portrayed Peggy Carter in the two Captain America movies and she will reprise her role in “Agent Carter,” an eight episode prequel series coming to ABC in early 2015.

B.J. Britt will also appear in the second season premiere as Agent Antoine Triplett, but he is only listed as a guest star. The season premiere will also feature the debut of Lucy Lawless as Agent Isabelle “Izzy” Hartley; Nick Blood as Agent Lance Hunter; Reed Diamond as Daniel Whitehall; and Brian Patrick Wade as Carl Creel aka The Absorbing Man. Bizarrely enough, ABC news host George Stephanopoulos will also be appearing as himself in the episode.

Marvel has also released the synopsis for the second season premiere.

“Coulson and his team are now wanted fugitives with limited resources–but that’s not stopping them from keeping the world safe from powerful and unseen threats everywhere. However, with new members they hardly know, will S.H.I.E.L.D. ever be trusted again?”

“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2 will begin on Tuesday, September 23.
