Al Pacino Would Totally Do a Marvel Movie

We here at CraveOnline just this morning made the declarative statement that Al Pacino is one of the best actors of his generation. Pacino recently sat down with the people at Deadline Hollywood to discuss his films at the Toronto International Film Festival (David Gordon Green’s Manglehorn, and Barry Levinson’s The Humbling), but the bulk of the interview was comprised of Pacino expressing his enjoyment of Marvel’s super-smash Guardians of the Galaxy. According to the interview, Pacino had no interest in it until his kids dragged him, and he was dazzled.

But this is more than a 74-year-old discovering the quirky pleasures of Marvel’s blockbuster cult. His interviewer instantly asked if the famed thespian would be interested in appearing in a comic book film soon, perhaps even the announced Guardians of the Galaxy 2. He responded positively:

I would do anything that I could understand in terms of how I fit in it. And you know, of course if I could fit in it. Anything’s possible. You know, I did Dick Tracy and I got an Oscar nomination, so come on. I mean, what can I say?

This gets the minds of every comic book and Marvel fan whirring. Who would Al Pacino, one of the biggest actors on the planet, possibly play? Mephisto? The Stranger? The Living Tribunal? Or perhaps some even more obscure character?

Al Pacino has not acted in a comic book film since Dick Tracy. Fans of Big Boy Caprice have reason to celebrate. And heck, after people like Glenn Close and Anthony Hopkins have already appeared in Marvel movies, we can only expect bigger talents from here, right?
