GoT’s “The Mountain” Is Now Europe’s Strongest Man

When he’s not out spilling Martell blood, “Game Of Thrones‘” Ser Gregor “The Mountain That Rides” Clegane, known to his mum as Hafþór Júlíus “Thor” Björnsson, is busy competing for the title of Europe’s Strongest Man, and this year he’s earned it.

The 25-year-old, 6ft 9in Iceland native was awarded the title at the Europe’s Strongest Man contest, held in Leeds earlier this month. He bested out the equally terrifying competition, winning three events, including the atlas stones category it which he became the first person ever to successfully left six heavy consecutive stones onto a series of high barrels.

Following his feat, “The Mountain” celebrated by ripping off his cumbersome t-shirt and declaring himself “the future of strength” and “the king of stones”.

While he may be the strongest man in Europe, and arguably the Seven Kingdoms, earlier this year Björnsson finished in second place at the World’s Strongest Man competition, losing by just half a point to four-time champion Zydrunas Savickas.

Björnsson is the third person to play the part of Tywin Lannister’s right-hand man, having previously been portrayed by Conan Stevens in season 1 and Ian Whyte in season 2. Watch him lift the heck out of some stones below.
