Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed via Miiverse that Meta Knight, the oft complained about Kirby character from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, will be returning for the latest Smash Bros. installments. Fortunately, to alleviate issues with the character’s overpowered nature (he’s often been banned from competitive play), Meta Knight’s abilities have been altered substantially. Sakurai explains.
Meta Knight’s Up Special Move, and Shuttle Loop, changed quite a bit in this game. The glide is gone, and the attack slashes opponents twice while spinning in a large loop. This has turned into a highly technical and effective move.
Meta Knight’s descent isn’t the only bit of Smash Bros. news today. Nintendo has revealed a downright beautiful 3DS XL bundle, complete with the 3DS version’s box art imprinted on its face in a classy shade of black and white. I want it. You want it. I’m pretty sure everyone wants it.

With less than two months before the 3DS edition’s release, it remains to be seen how much more Smash info we’re going to get. Are there more characters to be revealed? Stages? Crazy twists that only Sakurai himself could see coming? If previous fakeouts are anything to go by, there’s truly no predicting what will happen next.
