For over twelve years, Clancy Brown was the voice of Lex Luthor in several DC animation TV series and direct-to-video films. But this fall, Brown will portray a different DC character on “The Flash.”
TVLine is reporting that Brown has landed the recurring role of General Wade Eiling on “The Flash.” Originally created by Cary Bates, Pat Broderick and Greg Weisman as a supporting character and antagonist in Captain Atom, General Eiling’s mind was transferred into a nearly invincible superhuman body during Grant Morrison’s Justice League run. On the “Justice League Unlimited” animated series, Eiling was physically transformed into a superhuman to pursue his anti-superhero agenda.
For “The Flash,” Eiling will be introduced in the fifth episode as he leads a black ops team that is attempting to track down Plastique (Kelly Frye). Since Brown is slated to recur, it’s likely that Eiling will go on to become an adversary to Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) aka The Flash.

Brown is perhaps best known for his villainous turns in Highlander and The Shawshank Redemption as well as his leading role as Brother Justin Crowe on “Carnivale.” Brown has also done extensive voiceover work for several animated series including “SpongeBob SquarePants;” “Gargoyles,” “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Hulk and The Agents of S.M.A.S.H.” and the current “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” on Nickelodeon.
“The Flash” will premiere on The CW on Tuesday, October 7.
