It’s kind of amazing what Hollywood tries to do to the the English language. The boxed set of Alien movies almost got “quadrilogy” into the common vernacular, Die Hard with a Vengeance still doesn’t make any sense whatsoever and for whatever reason, Warner Bros. thinks we’re actually going to pronounce the letter “v” in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, even though we’re pretty sure those two superheroes aren’t suing each other in the movie. A simple title like Terminator: Genesis didn’t seem so bad for Alan Taylor’s upcoming reboot of the Terminator franchise, until they went and changed the stupid spelling to Terminator Genisys.

Arnold Schwarzenegger announced the new title Terminator Genisys on his Facebook page, in the following statement:
“Hasta la vista, baby,“ Schwarzenegger began. “I want to thank the cast and crew of Terminator Genisys for a fantastic shoot. It was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding. From our director to the producers, from the camera team to catering, from visual effects to hair and makeup – we couldn’t have done it without you. I can’t wait to see our finished project and I know we’ll remind the fans why they fell in love with the Terminator. On July 1, 2015, I’ll be back.”
And, as if to prove that Terminator Genisys wasn’t just a weird-ass typo, Schwarzenegger posted a photo (below) to prove the title change is 100% real.
We really hoping that Terminator Genisys at least makes sense in the context of the film (the name of a villainous corporation perhaps, or some criminally corrupted software?), because if this is just an attempt to control every part of the Terminator reboot trademark and shove a ridiculous new word down audiences’ throats, we think our respect for the franchise itself may have just been terminated instead.
