J.R. Ramirez Is Wildcat In ‘Arrow’ Season 3

The upcoming third season of “Arrow” already has Brandon Routh lined up to play Ray Palmer aka The Atom and Devon Aoki signed to portray Tatsu Yamashiro aka Katana. But at Comic-Con International, the producers of “Arrow” revealed that Wildcat would also appear in the third season.

Deadline is reporting that actor J.R. Ramirez has been cast as Ted Grant aka Wildcat on a potentially recurring basis for “Arrow” Season 3. Created by Bill Finger and Irwin Hasen, Wildcat was one of the earliest DC superheroes who was a world class boxer as a civilian and a member of the Justice Society of America, one of the first superhero teams.

Prior to the New 52 reboot, Wildcat was also known as a mentor and trainer for younger superheroes, including Batman, Black Canary and Catwoman. On “Arrow,” Ted Grant will retain his background as a boxer while running a gym for underprivileged youth before becoming the mentor of Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy).

This role marks Ramirez’s return to The CW after a co-starring role in “Emily Owens M.D.” and a guest stint on “90210.” Ramirez has also been in “House of Payne,” “24” and he currently appears on the STARZ drama, “Power.”
