Those attending San Diego’s Comic Con got an early preview of the much anticipated “Simpsons” and “Family Guy” crossover episode, when a clip of the episode aired during Saturday’s “Family Guy” panel.
The nearly five-minute clip begins with the Griffins appearing stuck in Springfield, where Peter cautions his family not to drink the water because, “Everybody around here looks like they have hepatitis.”
Bart introduces Stewie to skateboarding and prank-calling, with mixed results while Peter and Homer butt heads over their favourite beer brand. Homer labels Peter’s Patriot Ale “a lousy rip-off of Duff”, to which Peter responds, “It may have been inspired by Duff, but I like to think it goes in a different direction,” alluding not so subtly to the relationship between the two series.
The clip also makes meta-references to “Bob’s Burgers” and “The Cleveland Show“. The teaser was shown during the “Family Guy” panel at Comic Con where, according to Entertainment Weekly, even more details about upcoming episodes where revealed. The “Family Guy” Christmas episode will reportedly feature the return of Jesus to Quahog, while actor Liam Neeson will play himself in an upcoming show.
The crossover episode is set to air in the US on September 28th. It has also been confirmed that same day will air the the much-talked about “Simpsons” episode that will include the death of a major character, believed to be Krusty the Clown. A teaser for that episode also aired at Comic-Con, showing a short clip of Homer struggling to breathe.
