Toronto will be star-studded, as usual, this September as the annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) kicks off – Hollywood heavyweights like Denzel Washington, Al Pacino, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Tina Fey, and Jason Reitman will all be there to promote movies that were announced yesterday by event organizers.
In total 59 movies will make up the Galas and Special Presentations portion of the fest, and they run the gamut from action flicks to indie films. Quebec director Philippe Falardeau will show his project “The Good Lie,” which stars Witherspoon, while another Canadian director, Jean-Marc Vallé, is presenting “Wild,” also starring Witherspoon. “Pawn Sacrifice” stars Tobey Macguire as Bobby Fischer, and Washington will appear in “The Equalizer.” Kevin Costner’s “Black and White” will premiere, Jake Gyllenhaal will be seen in “Nightcrawler,” “Foxcatcher” premieres with a slew of actors (including Anthony Michael Hall, Steve Carell, Channing Tatum), and Robert Downey Jr. leads “The Judge.”
TIFF will continue to make event programming announcements in the coming weeks leading up to the event. The Toronto International Film Festival runs from September 4-14 and will showcase more than 300 films from over 60 countries.
