Harmonix Will Bring Back Rock Band “When the Time Is Right”

Music-centric game developer Harmonix may be inundated with projects right now, but that isn’t stopping the studio from dreaming big about the future of its famed Guitar Hero successor Rock Band. Despite having Fantasia: Music Evolved (Xbox One/Xbox 360), Dance Central Spotlight (Xbox One), Chroma (PC), and recent Kickstarter project Amplitude (PS3 and PS4) in the works, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos says that releasing the next Rock Band is all about precise timing and knowing when “the right moment” has arrived.

Rigopulos’ comments come via an interview with GameReactor, and he spent a good amount of time discussing the way Harmonix approaches Rock Band as a property, and how they’ll know when it’s time to unleash the plastic instruments once more.

We think about it all the time because we love Rock Band, and we’re waiting for just the right moment in the new generation of consoles to bring it back. Someday, when the time is right, we will want to bring it back.

Rigopulos didn’t go intofurther detail on the series, preferring to discuss what his studio is currently working on, but it’s clear Harmonix still has a soft spot for what some would consider its most excellent creation.

With the four aforementioned games slated for release across both 2014 and 2015, it may be a while before we hear more about Rock Band — but at least we know it’s not gone for good.
