Picture the scene: you've just won stage 2 of the Tour de France, the most grueling and high-profile event in your chosen sport's calendar, but the one thing everyone is talking about is how you were rejected on-stage while collecting your prize, your public humiliation being broadcast on live TV for the whole world to see.
This was the reality for Vincenzo Nibali, the Tour de France 2014 stage 2 winner who went in for a kiss on the cheek with one of the ladies handing him his customary bouquet of flowers and winners' Yellow Jersey. Nibali puckered up but was met by a turned head, before he tried to style it out by awkwardly pretending like nothing happened. We've all been there, Nibali.
The Tour de France heads into stage 3 today, in a 155km ride from Cambridge to London.
