Having recently made it back to Australian shores as one of the coaches of “The Voice”, pint-sized pop diva Kylie Minogue is sticking around for a while, having signed to appear in a new Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson action film San Andreas, currently being filmed in Queensland.
No further details about her part have been announced but according to The Hollywood Reporter, Minogue will take on a supporting role and will likely contribute to the San Andreas soundtrack as well.
The film revolves around a special operations firefighter, played by Dwayne Johnson, who reunites with his ex-wife (Carla Gugino) and makes a dangerous journey across an earthquake-stricken California in order to rescue his estranged daughter.
Brad Peyton, who worked with Johnson on the 2012 blockbuster Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, is directing this big-budget movie. Filming began at Village Roadshow studios on the Gold Coast earlier this year.
Kylie Minogue’s previous on-screen credits include Street Fighter: The Movie, Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge! and most recently made an appearance as herself in Nick Cave’s “fictional documentary” 20,000 Days on Earth, currently screening at the Sydney Film Festival.
San Andreas is expected to hit cinemas on in June next year.
