You've likely already heard that Batman: Arkham Knight has been delayed until 2015. I'm normally a-OK with delays, mainly because they can turn an average game into a great one, but in this particular case I'll admit that I'm quite disappointed. I need all the excuses I can find to buy a PS4 this year, and bumping Arkham Knight's release clear out of the holiday season doesn't do a whole lot to help my cause. Still, WB is already making amends with a teaser trailer, aptly drenched in developer Rocksteady's polished, hype-inducing flair. I'm talking about Arkham Knight's Battle Mode, and you can check it out in the above video.
It's not entirely clear what Battle Mode entails, but the teaser spends most of its time flaunting the advanced weaponry built directly into the Batmobile itself. Sour feelings over the delay aside, Batman's vehicle really does look outright amazing. It's probably fair to assume that the teaser is running on a high end PC, if not a pre-rendered estimation of what the game will look like, but even so, what's shown here is well worth getting excited over. Unsurprisingly, the trailer concludes with a note that Battle Mode will appear at E3, in the hope that you'll forget the delay entirely as your memory yields to an unfettered flow of pure excitement.
I hate to break it to you WB, but I'm still torn up about the delay. I don't doubt that it's in Arkham Knight's best interest to tack on a few months of extra development, but I can't help but feel let down by the lack of Arkham goodness in my now-less-exciting holiday plans. A stellar E3 showing has a better chance at prompting gamer forgiveness than anything else, though, so we'll just have to see how that goes. Maybe then folks will be ready to kiss and make up.
