Charlie Whitehurst Loses Jersey Number to Punter in Arm-Wrestling Contest

You read the headline…what more do you need?

Well, since at least a little context might be considerate here, we’ll give you some facts…courtesy of Crave sports site NESN.

Fact #1:  Quarterback Charlie Whitehurst has worn the no. 6 jersey since his days starting at Clemson and all the way through his uneventful eight-year NFL career as a back-up.

Fact #2:  Whitehurst will not wear no. 6 when he suits up this season, his first with the Tennessee Titans.

Fact #3:  Whitehurst DID have the chance to win his old number.

Fact #4:  Whitehurst posted this to his Instagram account Tuesday…

Fact #5: Whitehurst was vanquished by 200-pound University of Toledo grad Brett Kern.

Fact #6:  Did we mention that Brett Kern is a PUNTER?!

Fact #7:  Brett Kern has one of the most unassuming and least intimidating bios you’ll ever read for an NFL player.

Fact #8:  Despite the obvious desire to mock a punter, we’re not gonna bag on Kern because he actually WON the contest.

Fact #9:  Charlie Whitehurst lost the number he’d worn for 13 years — to a punter.

End of story.
