Are We There Yet? – Parks Canada Launches New Equipped Campsite Project

I don’t go camping often because I don’t have the gear… I either have to go with friends who have extra tents and blow-up mattresses or hope someone has got a trailer! But I do love the experience of it, having done it last summer (with my husband and then 5-month-old son) at Mont-Tremblant Provincial park. It was fantastic!

Well, Parks Canada has launched a new pilot project, involving eight parks, whereby camper-wannabes who don’t have the equipment can take advantage of their fully-equipped campsite. According to an article on Canoe, the first parks to boast this amenity are Alberta’s Banff and Elk Island national parks, Cape Breton Highlands in Nova Scotia, Kouchibouguac in New Brunswick, B.C.’s Pacific Rim, Prince Albert in Saskatchewan, Riding Mountain in Manitoba, and Ontario’s Thousand Islands and Georgian Bay Islands.

Parks Canada worked with Mountain Equipment Co-op when outfitting their pilot parks. Visit the Parks Canada website for more info.

Bon Voyage,

Jenn
