“Sea Green” 2DS to Hit Stores June 6th

Nintendo, I applaud you. Revealing a seaweed-colored handheld just in time for the release of — wait, what exactly does this coincide with? Sure, Tomodachi Life is available in North America on the very same day, but what does “Sea Green” have to do with anything? Regardless, both the new 2DS and Tomodachi Life can be had on June 6th.

I’m guessing it must have something to do with attracting casual gamers, or those who haven’t yet plunged into the 3DS ecosystem. Tomodachi Life is a life simulation, after all, and its humorous tie-ins to the real world (not to mention hilarious antics of player-created Mii characters) are a perfect match for newcomers. Heck, with the price of 2DS (including the Sea Green edition) at only $129.99, someone might buy it for Tomodachi and a few other games alone.

In a world ruled by me, all 2DS buyers would be required to purchase Fire Emblem Awakening within six months of their Tomodachi exploits, but that’s a pretty random and illogical thing for Nintendo to actually do. Still, the company is known for its fantastic limited-time offers (they literally gave away Pokémon X and Y earlier this year), so those looking to jump in with 2DS should definitely keep their eyes peeled.
