Is Josh Reddick’s New Walkup Song Funniest Ever?

Although it first hit the Oakland Coliseum airwaves Monday, Josh Reddick's new walkup song is just now taking the internet by storm thanks to an uploaded Vine video.

The Athletic's outfielder had a breakout season in 2012, hitting 32 home runs and driving in 85. Since that time, let's just say Reddick has been struggling quite a bit (only 14 HRs and .227 batting average). It was time for something to change.

Work on his pre-game routine? Maybe.

Re-examine his swing? Possibly.

Change his walk-up diddy? Absolutely.

And of course the song of choice was none other than the George Michael led WHAM! hit, "Careless Whisper." You know, the 80s ballad that leads with the sultry alto saxophone riff that screams anything but baseball.

Most hilarious walk-up music in history? It's up there with this. And it's definitely probably staying for awhile considering Reddick had a terrific night in the 5-4 win over the White Sox this past Monday, hitting a triple, gaining a walk and laying down a bunt single. You know if something works, baseball superstitions take over.

“I hope it’s not just a passing phase,’’ reliever Sean Doolittle said. “When it came on, we were all singing it in the bullpen.’’

Josh Donaldson said he liked the switch too, but he was having trouble remembering which WWE wrestler it was (Rick Martel) who used it.

“I liked it,’’ Donaldson said. “I think we all did.’’

They weren't lying.
