You Can Now Play Half-Life 2 on Nvidia Shield

Valve is bringing two of its classic games to Nvidia’s Shield console today: Half-Life 2, and the original Portal

If you’re one of the lucky(?) owners of Nvidia’s Android-based handheld platform, you can hop on Google Play at this very moment and grab the two titles to see for yourself. As with most Shield titles, the experience should be pretty indistinguishable from that of a home console, thanks to its dual-analog controller. It won’t suddenly make Shield’s screen cream-of-the-crop, but these titles are bound to look just dandy on its 5-inch 720p panel nonetheless.

What I’m curious about is whether or not these games will come to regular old Android. I mean, having them up and running on Shield means its perfectly possible; it’s just a matter of making touchscreen controls for such titles not terrible. In the end, there are plenty of places to play Portal and Half-Life 2, including Shield, and putting them on phones probably isn’t a big priority for anyone. Still, it’d be a great way to flaunt your flagship Android device.
