Watch The First Trailer For Fox’s Batman Prequel, ‘Gotham’

Last fall, Fox won a bidding war for the upcoming Batman prequel show, “Gotham” by ordering it straight-to-series. That didn’t stop Fox from pretending it was news that “Gotham” was on the schedule next season during yesterday’s news cycle.

However, Fox did premiere the first trailer for “Gotham,” which shows a lot of promise as future Police Commissioner, James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and his mentor/partner Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) are assigned the biggest case of their careers. Together, they have to solve the murder of Martha and Thomas Wayne, the parents of future Batman, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz).

One thing that the trailer seems to imply is that the murder of the Waynes wasn’t a robbery gone wrong, it was an assassination. We also catch a glimpse of Jada Pinkett Smith as mob boss Fish Mooney, as well as future Batman villains Oswald Cobblepot / Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Edward Nygma/The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith), Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Camren Bicondova) and even Pamela Isley/Poison Ivy?

“Gotham” was developed for TV by Bruno Heller “The Mentalist”) and the pilot was directed by Danny Cannon. Fox will reveal “Gotham’s” place on next season’s schedule later this month.
