2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs: First-Round Failures Video Tribute

The Stanley Cup is arguably the most sought after trophy in all of sports. The NHL playoff season may be the most intense and unpredictable in all of sports as well.

After all, the L.A. Kings just came back from an 0-3 deficit to defeat the San Jose Sharks. L.A. also won the Cup as a No. 8 seed just two years ago. Insane.

My point is that teams will fight and claw their way to no end in order to hoist Lord Stanley’s Cup. It’s only appropriate we give those who came so close a tribute.

Granted, it’s hard to come up with the right words for a real eulogy, therefore below is the video each team will forever be attached to — for better or worse — in regards to the 2014 season.

Good luck next year, fellas.

Dallas Stars

The Rich Peverley collapse.

He literally died of cardiac arrest and was brought back to life mid-game.

Peverley is currently healthy and, with his doctors, debating whether or not to play next season.

San Jose Sharks

What they did for Sam Tageson. Class act, guys.

Colorado Avalanche

They’re fighters. Nuff said.

St. Louis Blues

This beautiful disaster.

Detroit Red Wings

The best fight that never happened.

Tampa Bay Lightning

Losing arguably the most prolific scorer in hockey at the beginning of the year.

Columbus Blue Jackets

Goal of the year?

Philadelphia Flyers

Biggest brawl of the year?
