The Hot Docs Film Fest in Toronto, which begins this week, will play host to a number of documentaries as well as special events for Alice Cooper and “Star Trek’s” George Takei.
Almost 200 films from 43 countries will be represented at the annual festival. Things will get started with the international premiere of Brian Knappenberger’s “The Internet’s Own Boy: The Story Of Aaron Swartz.” For an entire schedule of documentaries, click here.
A number of special events are also taking place. The ultimate rock star of the twisted and bizarre Alice Cooper will be on hand after the Canadian premiere of “Super Duper Alice Cooper,” as he and filmmakers Reginald Harkema, Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn answer audience questions about this long-anticipated look at his life and celebrated career. Star Trek’s Hikaru Sulu, George Takei, is representing his flick “To Be Takei.”
Louis Ortiz from “Bronx Obama” will also be in attendance, along with American psychic Ms. Cleo, and former POW filmmaker Matthew VanDyke.
The Hot Docs Film Fest runs from April 24th until May 4th.
