Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor has a new enemy on “Doctor Who.”
BBC has announced that veteran actor and comedian Ben Miller has signed on to appear as a villain in the upcoming eighth season of “Doctor Who.” The episode in question will be written by “Sherlock” co-creator and occasional “Doctor Who” writer and guest star, Mark Gatiss.
In a brief statement, “Doctor Who” showrunner, Steven Moffat said “Mark Gatiss has written us a storming villain for his new episode, and with Capaldi in the TARDIS, we knew we needed somebody special to send everybody behind the sofa. And quite frankly, it’s about time Ben Miller was in ‘Doctor Who’!”
“As a committed Whovian, I cannot believe my luck in joining the Twelfth Doctor for one of his inaugural adventures,” said Miller. “My only worry is that they’ll make me leave the set when I’m not filming.”
Miller is best known for his roles in several British TV series including “The Armstrong and Miller Show,” “Primeval,” “Death in Paradise,” “Moving Wallpaper” and “Popetown.”
“Doctor Who” Season 8 is currently in production with a premiere date expected to come in the fall.
