Look, I admit — while being a huge sports fan, I am not much of a hockey fan. I don’t have years of NHL trivia rattling around in my head like I do for the other major U.S. sports.
But if I was on “Jeopardy” and was stumped for an answer to a hockey question, I’d always know there was one safe response, almost regardless of the question.
Who is Wayne Gretzky?
Simple, right? Apparently not, according to Joe, a contestant on the syndicated game show earlier this week.

Joe’s immediate answer…
“Who is Magic Johnson?”
It seems like the answer even throws off the unflappable one Alex Trebek, who offers an “oh no” rather than his standard-issue “no.”
The realization of what he’s done washes over Joe at that point — and his face tells the story.
Hey, it’s easy to see how Joe got the NBA and NHL confused in the heat of battle — unfortunately, the video history of his epic “Jeopardy” fail will live on for all of us to enjoy for decades. Have at it!
