Gary Oldman Brings Horror Series, ‘The Diabolic’ To TV

Last year, “The Walking Dead” creator, Robert Kirkman lined up an exorcism drama, “Outcast” at AMC, while “The Exorcist” was once again shopped around as a TV series. Now Gary Oldman is jumping in on the action with an exorcism drama of his own.

Deadline is reporting that Oldman and his production partner, Douglas Urbanski are developing “The Diabolic” for television in conjunction with eOne Television. Created by Daniel Kay (Timber Falls), “The Diabolic” follows “ a broken but brilliant exorcist who falls in love with a single mother with a young son possessed by an ancient entity with diabolic intentions that not only threaten the boy, but the very fate of mankind.”

“The Diabolic” is Oldman’s first television project, but he is not attached to star in it. Oldman is best known for his long career in feature films, including The Dark Knight trilogy, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, JFK, True Romance, Immortal Beloved, The Fifth Element and Air Force One.

There is currently no network attached to “The Diabolic,” but it will likely be taken out to the various cable and broadcast channels later this year.
