After six seasons on “Sons of Anarchy,’ Ron Perlman’s Clay Morrow is no longer on the show. But Perlman may soon have a new series of his own.
Deadline is reporting that Amazon is close to ordering a pilot for a new drama called “Hand of God,” in which Perlman would portray the main character, Judge Harris Pernell, “a hard-living, law-bending married man with a high-end call girl on the side who has a religious awakening and starts having visions and hearing voices through his ventilator-bound son that could be God speaking with him.”
Prior to “Sons of Anarchy,” Perlman was best known for his starring roles in CBS’ “Beauty and the Beast” and the two Hellboy films, in addition to his roles in numerous films and TV series.
“Hand of God” was created and written by former “Burn Notice” scribe Ben Watkins, with World War Z director Marc Foster slated to direct the potential pilot episode for Amazon. Perlman, Foster and Watkins will all serve as executive producers on the project alongside Jillian Kugler.
It’s worth noting that Amazon doesn’t currently have any original dramas series in its lineup. However, the previously approved Chris Carter drama pilot, “The After” may be released soon.
