‘Transporter: The Series’ Pulls Into TNT

“Transporter: The Series” was originally going to hit the United States via Cinemax, as part of the premium network’s brand of original action series. While Cinemax later pulled out of the deal, “Transporter” now has a new U.S. home.

TNT has acquired the rights to the first two seasons of “The Transporter,” with a premiere date expected to follow in Fall 2014. Based upon Luc Besson’s Transporter trilogy, “Transporter: The Series” features Chris Vance (“Prison Break”) as Frank Martin, the role that was originated by Jason Statham in the three Transporter movies.

12 episodes of “Transporter: The Series” have already been shown internationally. The second season of “Transporter” is expected to begin production near the end of February with filming to take place in Morocco, the Czech Republic and Canada.

For the second season of “Transporter: The Series,” “Strike Back” and “The X-Files” veteran Frank Spotnitz will be the new showrunner.
