Tech Squibs: Phillips 28-inch 4K Ultra HD Monitor Sharpens CES

You already spend enough time in front of the computer. You might as well make the experience brilliant.

Philips debuted their 28-inch 4K Ultra HD Monitor at CES 2014, and the results were stunning. The 3840 x 2160 pixel monitor boasts four times the resolution of full HD, as well as 1.07 billion colors. But it’s far more than just visually captivating. It’s created for the power-user who needs uber-high res clarity, spot-on color accuracy and, yes, the all important matter of size.

The PhilipsUltraClear Display also delivers myriad connectivity options including HDMI, DisplayPort, Dual-link DVI and VGA SmartConnect ports, providing great audio and video. USB 3.0 lets you conduct high-speed data transfers and device charging, while an integrated MHL port can mirror content from your tablet or smartphone and simultaneously charge them.

The MultiView function lets you work on multiple devices on the same screen, as if you’d grown an extra set of hands and somehow found the ability to use more than 10% of your brain. Built in stereo speakers deliver solid sound, and an adjustable SmartErgoBase allows you to move the height, swivel, tilt and rotation angle to accommodate just about any user.

Until someone invents a fully wireless monitor, the 4K Ultra provides cable management so the back of your desk looks almost as good as the front. The Philips UltraClear Display will be available in spring 2014 for $1,199.99 .
