The 34th Annual Razzie Award nominations are here, and once again Adam Sandler is in the crosshairs. Sandler swept the Razzies in 2012 – seriously, Jack & Jill “won” every single “award” – but the organization let him off easy in 2013, only giving his grotesque That’s My Boy “Worst Actor” and “Worst Screenplay,” because they decided to pick on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 instead. (Hey, it was their last chance to express disdain for the franchise.)
This year, Adam Sandler’s Grown Ups 2 has been singled out by the Razzies, earning nine nominations, for “Worst Picture,” “Worst Actor” (Adam Sandler), “Worst Supporting Actor” (Taylor Lautner & Nick Swardson, who is also nominated for A Haunted House), “Worst Supporting Actress” (Salma Hayek), “Worst Screen Combo” (the entire cast), “Worst Director” (Dennis Dugan), “Worst Screenplay” (Fred Wolfe & Adam Sandler & Tim Herlihy), and “Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel.”
The Razzies have a tendency to skew their nominations towards well-publicized bombs and misfires, and to easy, pop culture targets. Other nominees this year include Kim Kardashian (nominated for “Worst Supporting Actress,” Tyler Perry’s Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor), an extremely brief cameo appearance by Lady Gaga (“Best Supporting Actress,” Machete Kills), and Lindsay Lohan (nominated for “Worst Actress,”The Canyons, “Worst Supporting Actress,” inAPPropriate Comedy and Scary Movie 5, and “Worst Screen Combo,” Scary Movie 5, a nomination shared with fellow easy target Charlie Sheen).
