CraveOnline: James Cameron is setting up camp in New Zealand for three Avatar sequels. Do you want to maybe go home and get some work from him?
Zoe Bell: Oh shit yes, that would be amazing. I would love to work on those movies. I would love to work with that man and I would love to work back on those islands, so yes.
Have you been offered a female Expendables yet?
No, I have not yet but we should print that they should. You can definitely put that but I’ve been in and I’ve met. Yes, I’ve had meetings with people but they haven’t got a director attached yet so that’s the next thing. I would obviously love to be involved in it.
We would love to see you too, but earlier this year they started talking about a female action star team and we thought they have to include Zoe Bell.
Well, that’s the thing. They’ve got Expendables and then The ExpendaBelles which is a cute little play on words there. So it’s the EpxendaBelles gang that I’ve been in and met with. Listen, I’d take either.
Are they really calling it ExpendaBelles?
I mean, that’s the working title. That’s what it reads on IMDB.
I think that would be great. I hope they’re allowed to call it that. Stallone has a good sense of humor. He’d probably like that.
Oh, he’s on board. They’re all the same gang doing it. It’s sort of a spin-off.
Do you have any more lead roles like Raze coming up?
Well, Freshwater is an indie horror film. A friend of mine produced it. It’s really cute and yes, I play the lead female in it but I’m not carrying the show so to speak. Douglas Brown is definitely sort of an ensemble piece, another indie movie, but that was a load of fun, great cast.
Is it still a fight for lead roles? How are auditions going?
There’s definitely shifting into I think I perceive myself more honestly as an actor and I think that’s translating, so I’m being approached as an actor which is fantastic, and also as a producer which is great. I’ve got a couple things in development which I’m excited about. So yes, I wouldn’t say the fight is over by any means because I don’t know that it ever really is. I don’t know, maybe to some people, but I definitely feel like I’ve crossed over the identity peak that I was sort of bumping my head against. I think I’m now on the other side of creating an acting career as opposed to creating the persona of myself as an actor.
Are you producing anything that you’re not starring in?
I’m not producing anything as of now. The two things I’m developing, one is a TV show and I would be definitely at the forefront of that as an actor. The other one I’m not the lead of. It would be starring a man.
What action did you like this year?
I’m drawing a complete blank. I don’t do well with, I know this sounds ridiculous, but under pressure situations. Throw me off a building, I’m fine. Answering questions…
There was Fast & Furious 6, The Grandmaster, Man of Tai Chi?
Tiger [Chen] is a friend of mine because I worked with him on Kill Bill. He was meant to be one of The Bride’s doubles very early on, was meant to be one of Uma’s doubles.
He was?
Really early on in the House of Blue Leaves. I think working with the Chinese guys, I had to work really hard to earn their trust. They would have rather had a Chinese dude in there with chicken filets than a white girl. I think I eventually won them over.
I thought he was magnetic in his movie.
Listen, he has that magnetism in real life as well. He’s phenomenal to watch, he’s just so graceful. Maybe I should call Tiger and he and I should do a movie together.
Yes! I recommend that.
