Former Heisman winner and football icon, Tim Tebow, has embarked on a new career. Unable to find an NFL team that wanted his services, Tebow has signed a multi-year deal with ESPN to be an analyst for the SEC Network. Surprisingly the universe hasn’t exploded yet from the new pairing. Now ESPN’s First Take analyst Skip Bayless doesn’t have to campaign for Tebow every single day. We can just go straight to Tebow himself to discuss his mechanics as a quarterback, if he is indeed a ‘winner’, or what he prefers to eat for breakfast.
Now if only Brett Favre were to sign on to work at ESPN…..(waiting for heads to explode).
However, the new job doesn’t mean the former Florida Gator is ready to give up on playing in the NFL. On Monday, Tebow expressed his feelings on the sudden move.
“I am so excited that ESPN has given me this incredible opportunity,” Tebow said in a statement. “When I was 6 years old, I fell in love with the game of football, and while I continue to pursue my dream of playing quarterback in the NFL, this is an amazing opportunity to be part of the unparalleled passion of college football and the SEC.”
The relationship makes sense. Tebow is a two-time BCS National Champion, two-time SEC Champion, and Heisman winner. Those accomplishments make him the most successful player in SEC history and he definitely knows the conference and fan bases rather well. Plus, with ESPN being a constant cheerleader for the dominating conference, and their love of ‘Tebow coverage’, it really is a match made in heaven.
Tebow will make his debut as an analyst on January 6th during the pre-game coverage of the BCS National Championship between Florida State and Auburn.
