1. The Perron Family
They moved into a farmhouse in rural Rhode Island during the 1970s and were unlucky enough to stumble into the clutches of a crazy demon witch ghost. Bathsheba Sherman, the offending spirit, allegedly killed her baby by stabbing it in the back of the neck with a sewing needle. Then she died mysteriously and her skin turned to stone. Creepy.

2. The Lutz Family
The Lutz family moved into a house on Long Island in 1975. The house had been left vacant after Ronald DeFeo, Jr. murdered six members of his family. Immediately after the Lutz' arrival, they started seeing, hearing and doing some creepy things. For instance, their daughter Missy made friends with an “imaginary” demon pig named Jodie. It had glowing red eyes.

3. The Belmez Faces
The Belmez faces are a series of stains in the concrete floor of a private home in Andalusia, Spain. These stains spontaneously form and disappear. Nothing scary about that? Well, these stains often appear to be depictions of human faces.

4. The Borley Rectory
This Victorian mansion was built in 1862 on top of the spot where, in 1362, a Benedictine monk was executed and his secret lover, a nun from the same monastery, was walled up alive. Since 1863, there have been reports of unexplained footsteps, sightings of apparitions and even ghosts physically attacking people!

5. The Whaley House
Mr. Thomas Whaley constructed this San Diego house in 1857. Unfortunately for his family, Whaley’s new home was built on the same spot where a man named James “Yankee Jim” Robinson was hung. Apparently, the ghost of Yankee Jim wasn’t too happy about this whole situation and took out some frustration on the Whaleys.

6. The Lalaurie Mansion
Delphine Lalaurie lived in this creepy place during the mid-19th century. Lalaurie was a well-known socialite and less well-known serial killer. She tortured and murdered all of her many slaves. Her house was destroyed by a mob and rebuilt later. Unfortunately, it’s still pretty haunted.

7. The Snedeker Family
The Snedeker family, a little low on cash, needed to move closer to where their son was being treated for cancer. Enter, Connecticut. Unfortunately, the house they bought used to be a funeral home, and it housed a quite unsavory demon. Apparently, this demon started using their boy as a sort of host…

8. The Mothman
Okay, so this one isn’t so much of a traditional house haunting. It’s more like a, “Holy crap, there is a giant man-sized moth with 10-foot tall wings!” Don’t believe us? Point Pleasant, West Virginia has a statue depicting the crazy paranormal creature.

9. Doris Bither
This poor woman had a bad relationship with her son, suffered abuse from her parents and lived in a house that was TWICE condemned. Not bad enough? She claimed that she was attacked and raped by angry ghosts. Yikes.

10. The Winchester House
Built by Sarah Winchester, heir to the Winchester gun fortune, the Winchester “Mystery” House is gigantic mansion with 160 rooms. Legend says that Mrs. Winchester consulted with a medium who said that her family was cursed because of all the people who had been killed with their guns. To remedy this, Winchester started building rooms to house all of the spirits.
