The Terminator Heads Back To Television

In 2008, The Terminator came to television in “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” on Fox. However, the series struggled to maintain an audience and “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” was canceled after two seasons.

With a new Terminator film coming in 2015, the franchise may find a second life on television as well. According to Deadline, a brand new “Terminator” TV series is in the works from writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, with the writers of the new Terminator movie, Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier on board as well.

The new “Terminator” TV project will spring from a crucial moment in the original Terminator movie that diverges from the direction that unfolded in the other films. Reportedly the Terminator reboot is also tied to the first movie. The two narratives of the rebooted Terminator film and TV incarnations are also expected to intersect, as the involvement of Kalogridis and Lussier should keep them on track for a singular vision.

Miller and Stentz previously worked together on “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” “Fringe” “Andromeda” and “The Twilight Zone.” The duo also wrote the screenplays for X-Men: First Class and Thor.

It should be noted that the new “Terminator” TV project does not currently have a network. But with the promise of synergy with the new Terminator film, there should be several interested networks.
