Nvidia: PC is “Far Superior” to the PS4 and Xbox One

Nvidia consumer sales manager Matt Wright has waded into the Xbox One vs. PS4 debate, saying that the PC is in fact the “ultimate games system.”

Speaking to MCV, Wright said: “We are proposing small form-factor PCs to be a viable alternative to the next-gen consoles. Enthusiast players want the ultimate games system and that is the PC.

“The PC platform is far superior to any console when it comes to gaming, plus you get all the extra functionality that a computer brings. Steam now has more users than Xbox Live… there’s a huge community who love playing their games on PC.”

Gaming PCs routinely embarrass home consoles with their astounding graphics, however, PC gaming has eluded the mass-market due to the perceived complexity of setting up your own gaming rig. The PS4 and Xbox One offer a far easier solution for those who don’t want to deal with the hassle of researching GPUs and the like, or who don’t have copious amounts of cash to blow on a pre-made high-end model, and this is where Nvidia hopes those smaller PCs will come in handy.

“We want to make PC gaming as simple as possible”, Wright continued. “We think that it already becoming much more relevant and appealing to casual gamers.”

So what do you think? Will PC gaming ever be welcomed by the casual gamer, or is Nvidia barking up the wrong tree?
