‘Sleepy Hollow’ Creators & Joe Hill Reteam For ‘Tales From The Darkside’ Revival At The CW

Back in 1984, George Romero (Night of The Living Dead) brought his horror sensibilities to television with “Tales From The Darkside,” an anthology series that ran for four seasons in syndication before spawning a Tales From The Darkside feature film in 1990.

According to Entertainment Weekly, “Tales From The Darkside” may return to TV as a summer series on The CW, courtesy of Alex Kurtzman, Bob Orci and Joe Hill. Presumably the new “Tales From The Darkside” will remain a half hour anthology series.

Kurtzman and Orci are best known for writing the Star Trek and Transformers feature films, but they have also co-created “Fringe” and “Sleepy Hollow” in addition to executive producing the reboot of “Hawaii Five-0” on CBS. Hill previously teamed with Kurtzman and Orci on the TV adaptation of Hill’s “Locke & Key;” which was not picked up by Fox.

This isn’t the first time that The CW (formerly known as UPN & The WB) has tried to update a horror anthology. In 2002, UPN aired a modern version of “The Twilight Zone” with Forest Whitaker as the host that lasted only a single season.

If “Tales From The Darkside” goes forward at The CW, it’s expected to be paired with the second season of the “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” revival in Summer 2014.
