“Thanos is a character in our movie. He’s the main sort of… He works with Ronan. In my movie Ronan works for Thanos, and Ronan is the main bad guy in our film,” says James Gunn, director of Guardians of the Galaxy, when we asked whether Guardians of the Galaxy is the Thanos movie we’ve all been waiting for since The Avengers came out in 2012. And that’s just some of what he has to say about the upcoming all-star sci-fi adventure from Marvel Studios, starring Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Groot, Glenn Close as Nova Prime, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Benicio Del Toro as The Collector, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser and a big question mark as Thanos, apparently.
But that’s not all we asked him. James Gunn was happy to discuss the upcoming teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy, the massive-sounding prison we’ll get to see in the film, and what we can expect from his sprawling ensemble cast. It all came from the red carpet premiere of Thor: The Dark World, and you can watch it above!
