History’s “Vikings” was an unexpected rating success during its nine episode first season.
Created by Michael Hirst, “Vikings” follows the journey of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), a young Viking chieftain attempt to seize his destiny alongside his wife Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) and his sometimes untrustworthy brother, Rollo (Clive Standen).

“Vikings” Season 1 is out this week on DVD and Blu-ray, which feature extended episodes, alternate and deleted scenes and “Birth of The Vikings,” an in-depth look at how the series was created and brought to life.
In this exclusive deleted scene from “Vikings” Season 1, Lagertha tells her daughter, Gyda (Ruby O’Leary) the story of Freya, the Goddess of Love, Beauty and War. And Lagertha’s demeanor in this clip seems to foreshadow Gyda’s tragic fate.
