The Fifth Estate was an opening night gala at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. It has a high pedigree for the prestigious festival, directed by Bill Condon and starring prolific and acclaimed actor Benedict Cumberbath. It also tackles a recent historical phenomenon, the Wikileaks website exposing political secrets. Cumberbatch plays Wikileaks front man Julian Assange, who has spoken out against the movie in the weeks leading up to its release. In a video interview, we spoke with Cumberbatch about his newfound fame (he had three films at TIFF), the character of Assange, and those rumors he’s up for a part in Star Wars: Episode VII.
