Some very gullible iPhone owners have been duped into thinking that the new iOS7 update will make their iPhones waterproof.
The hoax was orchestrated by some 4Chan users (of course!) and while it didn’t dupe everyone, it certainly caught out a few of the more “trusting” individuals:
I saw the new iphone ad about ios7 making my phone waterproof. It doesn’t work. I just ruined my phone. Oh well. You live and learn.

4Chan pulled off the prank by producing a few fake ads that claimed the OS update would “shut off the phone’s power supply” to prevent any damage being done to it. They also accompanied it with this fake Facebook post from Apple CEO Tim Cook:
