Last year, Bryan Singer directed “Mockingbird Lane,” the pilot episode of a “Munsters” reboot that NBC opted to pass on. But Singer isn’t quite done with monsters just yet.
Deadline is reporting that Singer is executive producing “Creature At Bay,” a potential drama at Syfy that has been given a pilot script commitment that will be 90 minutes if if is filmed. Created by John Cabrera (“H+”), “Creature At Bay” takes place shortly after the U.S. military defeats a giant monster (or “Kaiju,” which is a term that was re-popularized among genre fans after Pacific Rim).
The main character of “Creature At Bay” is the Undersecretary from the California Emergency Management Agency, who has to oversee the cleanup from the creature’s attack against the backdrop of a small town in Northern California that is under intense media scrutiny after it survived the monster’s rampage.
Singer’s Bad Hat Harry Productions is producing the potential series alongside Universal Cable Productions; with Singer, Cabrera and Jason Taylor executive producing the project.
While “Creature At Bay” has yet to score a pilot order, Singer will be back behind-the-camera for “The Black Box,” an upcoming ABC series. Singer is also spearheading a revival of “The Twilight Zone” on CBS.
Singer’s third X-Men movie, X-Men Days of Future Past will be released in May 2014
