Week 3 Sleepers
Buffalo Bills DEF
Sorry Jets fans, but it only makes sense to use the defense going against your squad, because let’s face it, your team is struggling. The Bills might be near the bottom in rushing yards allowed and in the middle of the pack in passing yards allowed, but New York is averaging just 311 yards of total offense per game and cannot seem to pound the ball home in the red zone. Use the Bills this week and then move on. They’re not worth holding on to.
Aaron Dobson WR - New England
Warning: he is questionable this week against Tampa Bay, a team that has given up the second fewest fantasy points to wide receivers. But the man dubbed as the next Randy Moss has impressed this season and if no one has jumped on him yet, do so! He’s got the chops and his three receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown against the New York Jets was just the beginning. Questionable doesn’t mean squat, anyways .
Willis McGahee RB - Cleveland
Just a week ago it appeared as though McGahee’s career was over but after the Browns sold off Trent Richardson, suddenly a replacement was needed. While we expect McGahee to get only a few carries, he could be good for a touchdown or two given the lack of quality at the quarterback position. We should also note that the Browns’ opponent – the Minnesota Vikings –is fifth in most offensive yards allowed per game. He’s a solid pickup with potential future dividends.
James Starks RB - Green Bay
With Eddie Lacy battling concussion-like symptoms, Starks will get the load this week against a strong Cincinnati Bengals defense. The Packers are a pass-first offense but we think Starks – who has impressed in the past – could pick up some quality yards and prove to be a diamond in the rough this week. He might not be in it for the long haul though, given Lacy’s status.
Robert Woods WR - Buffalo
Woods isn’t going to blow up and lead your team to victory but if you’re in a pinch for a wide receiver he might be worth a look – and a pickup. Last week he played in all but four offensive snaps, catching four passes for 68 yards. He is averaging 17 and a half yards a catch, so if E.J. Manuel gets hot, Woods could get a nice chunk of yardage. Grab him and the worst case is you put him on the bench – it can’t hurt, given that his star is only rising.
