For those looking forward to another big day from the Tom Brady-Danny Amendola combo, it’s going to have to wait.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Amendola is almost certain to be ruled out because of the groin injury he suffered during the first half of Sunday’s 23-21 win over the Buffalo Bills, according to a source informed of his injury. The fifth-year pro left the field against Buffalo before returning to the lineup, but Amendola wasn’t present at the Patriots’ walkthrough Tuesday, per NFL Media’s Albert Breer.
Breer noted that the team is awaiting additional opinions on Amendola’s setback.
Amendola has been injury plagued his entire career. Just ask Rams fans, who have been hyped about a breakout season from the emerging star for years.
He hauled in 10 catches for 104 yards on fourteen targets last week against the Bills and was finally seemingly on his way to a big season. Hopefully this groin injury is just a blip on the radar and not a foreshadowing of things to come based on previous ailments.
Even though he didn’t’ catch many of the passes thrown to him in week 1, this could be the week rookie Kenbrell Thompkins breaks out in Amendola’s absence. The Pats have the Jets this weekend.
