Ever since the premiere of “Strike Back,” Cinemax has primarily built its brand around original action series. And there may soon be another show added to Cinemax’s lineup.
Deadline is reporting that Cinemax is “high” on “Blanco,” a new drama series created by Mark Rosner. “Blanco” follows “an uptown gangster who uses his status as a confidential informant to turn the tables on law enforcement and build his criminal empire.” Casting is already in the preliminary stages for “Blanco;” which may mean that a pilot order will be given soon.
Rosner has previously written for “Blue Bloods,” ‘My Own Worst Enemy,” “Close To Home” and “Smith.” “Blanco” is being produced by Fox TV Studios and Lakeshore Entertainment for Cinemax.
If “Blanco” lands a pilot at Cinemax, it would join “Quarry,” an adaptation of Max Allan Collins’ novels about a ‘70s era contract killer as well as “The Knick,” a ten part miniseries by director Steven Soderbergh that stars Clive Owen and features the doctors at the Knickerbocker Hospital in New York circa 1900.
Cinemax is also developing a “Sam Hunter” miniseries featuring Melissa George’s character from “Hunted.”
