The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones – Harald Zwart Interview

Harald Zwart has some explaining to do, and no, not just because William Bibbiani asks why he remake of The Karate Kid wasn’t actually about karate. No, he’s got to explain how the weird, kinky and sometimes awesomely gross The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones got a PG-13 rating, even though it has inverted dog-monsters, neck lampreys and a third act revelation that’s bound to get some people talking.

What’s more Harald Zwart explains the allure of shooting on 35mm, and the importance of making a film like The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones for his daughter, who needs strong female role models in cinema.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones opens in theaters on August 21, 2013.
