In Showtime’s “Homeland,” the main character, Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) had the burning desire to prevent another 9/11 style attack on American soil.
She failed.
Carrie was not only blindsided by the bombing of the CIA headquarters, she also helped the prime suspect, Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) get out of the country because she believed that he was set up… and because she loved him. But this will inevitably blowback on Carrie.
Showtime has released an extended trailer for “Homeland” Season 3 that finds both Carrie and her mentor, Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) forced to testify at a Congressional hearing about the 12/12 attack on the CIA. And from the looks of the footage, Carrie is going to be arrested and possibly institutionalized again.
Meanwhile, our first glimpse of Brody reveals that he’s been shot and he’s shaved his head to conceal his identity. Back in the states, Brody’s family, Jessica (Morena Baccarin), Dana (Morgan Saylor) and Chris (Jackson Pace) attempt to pick up the pieces of their lives. But Dana seems to be on downward spiral as she takes a “selfie” with her cel and prays on her father’s prayer towel, perhaps in an attempt to better understand what she thinks he did.
“Homeland” Season 3 will premiere on Sunday, September 29 on Showtime.
